The Terminator for Genesis (1992)

The Terminator for Genesis advertisement
Ad published in the March 1992 edition of EGM (no. 32)

Historical Background

A faithful platform conversion of the 80's movie, The Terminator (1992) for Genesis was releases after the Terminator 2: Judgement Day hit the theatres in 1991. This is an average, very short, video game that stands out from other platformers of the day thanks to it's excellent sound and interesting music. (If you want the best sounding Terminator game, your best bet is probably the Sega CD version of the same game).

Graphical Analysis

As for the artwork, Virgin played it on the safe side and gave practically the same poster everyone already knew from the 1984 film. Arnie was uber popular in the late 80's and the start of the 90's, so his face in full-page magazine ad was probably the easiest marketing decision Virgin ever made.
